Kids will have fun matching the blocks to the holes in our shape sorter. Twenty hard maple blocks come in four primary shapes and colors and fit into hardwood top mounted to rugged screw-top plastic jar. Overall size approximately 6" high x 6" diameter.
We craft a wide range of wooden toys, games, and gifts made right here in Vermont, USA. We follow American standards of product safety, employee safety, and environmental protection. The shortcuts of doing it any other way are not what Maple Landmark is about. The wood Maple Landmark uses is from native species. We use rock maple primarily, as well as some pine and cherry. These are some of the best materials for wooden toys and gifts, we are fortunate to have them locally available. The majority of wood that grows tends to be lower grade material. Since we make small items, we are able to use downgraded lumber by simply cutting around the defects. This strategy saves on the demand for the rarer, more premium grades. We also make use of small dimension material that is cast off from other plants. What do we do with our wood waste? We have a couple of local farmers who take away our sawdust for cattle bedding. Our wood scraps are put out for locals to use for kindling, wood heat being very common in Vermont in the winter months. Finishes used are natural, whey, dye or enamel. Atlantis Natural does not carry petroleum based finishes.
Maple Landmark designs toys to provide the best in hands-on learning and exploration. Surely it is becoming an electronic world but children still need to learn basic manipulation and construction.

I bought this for my niece for xmas. I was going to buy a Melissa and Doug version, but the Canadian recalls changed my mind. I am glad I got this. It is very small. She LOVES playing with it. It is unfinished wood, so no worries about toxin exposure. I would suggest it for anyone wanting to keep chemicals away from our little ones and to support USA businesses!
